Nice and healthy 4lb speckled trout

The most common question I get about kayak charters is, “when is the best time of year to go?” While fishing is great year around in Louisiana compared to many other places in the US, my safe answer is March, April, May, and October, November, and December. The spring and the fall. One of the things that is great about fall fishing for us kayak anglers is the availability and close proximity of speckled trout during this time of year. The winter cold front moving through push the speckled trout into their winter haunts, which is in close kayak distance of many of our launches. If you like catching a lot of fish, this is the time of year to get out and setup on some deep holes or oyster flats and bring limits of quality speckled trout to the boat.

Healthy Stringer of Specks

Now at the end of November we are in the full swing of the fall fishing season. The water temperatures have dropped to the 50s-60s and the trout are pushed in close to the highways. If you are looking to make a kayak fishing while in New Orleans this is the prime time to do it. Give us a call at 985-205-2527 or shoot us an email and we would be glad to get you out on the water. All the best and tight lines!
