An Intensive Photo Workshop On Louisiana’s Bird’s, Bayous, and Byways!
Wild Louisiana Tours is happy to offer a 5-day photo excursion that explores the birds, bayous, and byways of Louisiana. This photography workshop is based out of New Orleans, and explores scenic swamps, nesting bird rookeries, and historic plantation country. Landscape swamp photography, nature and bird photography, and historic plantations and live oak trees are the focus of this photo tour.
Lodging
One of the highlights of the WLT’s spring birds, bayous, and byways photo excursion are the accommodations. While in New Orleans, lodging will be at one of the city’s renowned hotels known for their hospitality. We will also be staying at some of the regions many historic plantation homes surrounded by majestic oak trees. When you are done shooting you can relax at historic southern grounds or high end crescent city stays.

Wild Louisiana Tours is happy to offer a 5-day photo excursion exploring the birds, bayous, and byways o Louisiana. This workshop is an intensive landscape, architecture, and birdingĀ photo trip. We will shoot sunrise and sunset every day. Your guide will help you setup shots of nesting birds via boat. The swamps that we have selected are some of the most scenic in the state for cypress tree photography and during the spring, wildflowers like wild iris and spider lilies are abundant. We will photograph historic plantations and live oak trees while spring azaleas are blooming to add color and contrast to the scenery. This is a great workshop for an extended trip to New Orleans, experience the unique jazz music and culture of New Orleans before or after the workshop dates. It is affordable compared to other similar workshops and offers some of the most scenic photography locations in Louisiana.

- Day 1 – Arrival Day. We meet the group, have dinner, and are briefed on landscape photography techniques in the swamp.
- Day 2 – Awake before sunrise to shoot the early morning light. /Return late morning to relax eat lunch and work on post processing./Head out for our sunset session, shoot until dark, then return for dinner.
- Day 3 – Awake before sunrise to shoot the early morning light. /Move on to our second location of the trip./Head out for our sunset session, shoot until dark, then return for dinner.
- Day 4 – Awake before sunrise to shoot the early morning light. /Return late morning to relax eat lunch and work on post processing./Head out for our sunset session, shoot until dark, then return for dinner.
- Day 5 – Departure day. /We wake up for our normal morning shoot and begin departure from the trip.

While this trip does require paddling your own kayak, it is not very strenuous. Most of the water is calm and is easy for a beginner or first time paddler to navigate. Your guides will help you to learn paddling techniques and how to set up your tripod from the kayaks. On certain days we will have the opportunity to go via boat and take a break from paddling if weather permits.
